Episode 23: Dead Presidents & The Demon Cat

CW: Ghosts, Death/Child Death (briefly), Alcohol, The Deep Ocean (briefly)

“As you can see, Mr. President: I have nothing to hide.” On this spooky feature, join us as presidents haunt the halls of their former residence. The White House, historic and old as balls, is ripe for the spirits of the dead to infest, and the deceased certainly seem to agree. If ghosts aren’t enough to get you going, of course, consider that there may be a larger-than-life demon cat coming your way…

This week, listeners, we’re having a very laid back, fun episode where we let you listen to all the silly tangents the topic gets us off on. Just a light bit of laughter after some heavier episodes the last few weeks.

Let’s start off with this History article about former President William Taft and all about whether or not he got stuck in a tub, since we immediately got to talking about that. And there’s a picture of the “pond-like” tub in here.

Here’s a link to the White House Historical Association list of ghost stories. This has all the ones we talked about and more.

This article quotes Jared Broach of the company Nightly Spirits and recounts the story of Winston Churchill (the first one I give). There’s a lot more in here though, including ones I didn’t even talk about on the show.

And here we are to the bit of the episode quoted in the blurb up top. You’re naked in your own room, minding your business, and then there’s a ghost. This is a great article about crazy naked ghost encounters.

And the end of the episode was us talking about the demon cat of the white house. It’s a good boy but a scary too.

And here’s some cute paw prints.
