Episode 22: Ghost Sex & The Psychic Mafia

CW: Sex, Ghosts, Death, Manipulation

Have you ever felt a brush against your back but no one was there? Felt eyes on you but you know you’re alone? Perhaps you aren’t as alone as you thought. And perhaps that presence has more on its mind than typical hauntings. Maybe it even possesses the psychic you sought out for answers? Or maybe it’s just the Psychic Mafia.

We’re starting out with one of the lists I referenced for celebrities who have claimed to have had sex with a ghosts.

And here’s the Ke$ha one specifically, sine she is the one most people think of and talk about when they think about ghost sex.

And here’s the link to that Travel Channel documentary that has interviews with people who identify as spectrophiles.

“The first part of this book presents a history of sex with spirits. The second part of the book includes the practices and techniques to learn the previously hidden secrets of having sex with a spirit lover.” Those sentences come directly from the blurb. If you’re interested in this sort of thing, here’s a book for you.

And this book, The Terror That Comes in the Night: An Experience-Centered Study of Supernatural Assault Traditions is from David Hufford who I quoted a few times in this episode.

This link will take you to an article that quotes David Hufford talking about his book (linked above) and sleep paralysis when the person experiencing it has sexual arousal coupled with it. It also talks about the history of ghost sex and talks to some people (not celebrities) who have claimed to have experienced it.

The Sleep Foundation article about sleep paralysis.

And if you want to have sex with a ghost, here’s the Buzzfeed article where they give some step by step instructions of how these people tried to do it. If you try it, let us know.

A link to Fake Psychic, the podcast Karen referred to that talks all about the full story of Lamar Keene, his bunch, his weird doings, and the Psychic Mafia.

This is Lamar Keene’s autobiography. He initially wrote it in the 70s but it wa republished in the 90s. It’s hard to find, which is why it’s often so expensive, but it sounds interesting. He exposes how he pulled off his scams, including talking about the spirit sex, floating objects, mind reading etc.

A good long article about Keene, why he decided to con people, why he decided to expose himself and other psychics, and why Vicky decided to make him the subject of her podcast. And there’s pictures!

And this one takes you inside Camp Chesterfield, the psychic retreat made famous by Lamar Keene when he exposed all their tricks.
