Time for a good ol’ spooky episode! We have a listener question that delves into the vampire burial rites— how did the people in vampire times deal with the horrible and terribly common problem of the dead rising, hungry for the lifeblood of the common man?

Here’s the first list of ways people were buried in medieval times to try to keep them from coming back as vampires.

This is a second list. They both have similar things in them, but both lists have different pictures in them.

This skull was uncovered in a grave in northwestern Poland. Teeth had been removed, a fragment of rock was inserted in the mouth, and a leg had been staked. Click the picture to read about the burial!

This skeleton with a sickle across its neck was unearthed in Drawsko, Poland. If she raises from the dead, her head will come right off. I quoted from this article a good bit regarding attitudes toward why people thought vampires came back. Click the picture to read up on it!
